The Lothian Area team are holding a training evening on Monday 20th January at St George’s School for Girls Garscube Terrace, Edinburgh. Registration 5.15pm and start at 5.30pm. Up to 4 students can attend and if the Finance Director is available then there is a workshop purely for the use of the YEUK finance package.
Happy New Year you and your team(s),
I hope you enjoyed a relaxing break and it’ not too painful to be back!
If your YE team is keeping an eye on the YE Lothian website they will know the final training date is Monday 20 January, at St Georges School for girls (the same as previous years). It’s in the low roof building ahead of you as you walk up the main drive.
This is a very informal session where we split into groups and discuss the video, interviews, presentations, reports and reports. We will also refresh the recording of financial data using YE-Online.
Historically, many students choose to skip this session, possibly because it runs from 5.15pm – 7pm, but I can’t stress enough it’s their loss. We will be giving out lots of tips, guidance and advice on how to carry out the final tasks as quickly and as effortlessly as possible. I can say from experience that those who join us generally produce the best results in the competition. And it’s still all to play for.
All team members are welcome but if only two or three can make it along that’s fine. Link Teachers and Business advisers are also very welcome – you’ll get a chance to hear what we are saying to the students and ask any questions you might have about the programme.
The Christmas Market was held on Saturday 7th December and 26 teams entered. The trophy winners are now available here. Many thanks to the Eric Liddell Centre and the Herald & Times Glasgow for supporting this event. Photographs of the event are now fully available. Many thanks to Colin Dempster (Knox Academy) for taking these photographs on the day.
I have received the following email from a visitor to the Christmas Market – Hello, I was at the Lothian Young Enterprise Scotland Christmas Market at the Eric Liddell Centre last Saturday and just wanted to say how impressed I was with all the young people who had stalls at the event. They were polite, articulate, enthusiastic and dedicated to their enterprise. I enjoyed meeting and talking with them about their projects, and left with several products.

The Lothian team are all vounteers and help to run the Young Enterprise Company Programme with monetary donations from all locations. Lothian Young Enterprise is a charity.
We changed the format and have received various excellent comments about the training, which was held for the third time at the RBS Gogarburn, this is very expensive and depletes our funds, hence we are asking if any of this year’s teams would make a charitable donation to the Lothian Young Enterprise programme.
No matter how small the amount all monies received will go towards next year’s (2019-2020) Company Programme.
The Lothian Young Enterprise bank account details are below –
Sort code : 83-44-00
Account number : 10822623
Please give your company name in the notes field so that the Lothian team can acknowledge receipt of your donation. Many thanks in advance.
